UNSG Ban stresses on dialogue, non violence in Nepal

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday expressed his deep concern over the recent violent movements and stressed the need for dialogue and non-violence in the country.

According to a statement released by the United Nations, “The Secretary-General acknowledges the adoption of the new Constitution in Nepal. Noting that the Constitution is a living document, he urges all political leaders to act in the broad national interest and with continued flexibility and inclusivity.”

“A peaceful and democratic Nepal is what the people of Nepal seek and deserve,” he added.

President Ram Baran Yadav officially promulgated the Constitution on Sunday, September 20.

Many countries have welcomed the constitution as well as expressed deep concerns over the ongoing protests in various parts of the country.
