David Price recovers from first-round knockdown to defeat Ondrej Pala in Denmark

David Price continued his comeback with a third-round stoppage victory over Ondrej Pala in Denmark on Saturday.

The British heavyweight was contesting his second bout since back-to-back losses to Tony Thompson and had to get off the canvas to clinch the win.

Price was dropped in the first round when he was caught off balance by a cuffing left hook from his Czech opponent but was soon on his feet and easily beat the count.

The Liverpool fighter shipped some cleaner shots later in the round but this time managed to stay on his feet and saw it out to the bell.Price started the second behind his long jab but as the round wore on Pala was again able to get inside and had some more moments of success. However, any hopes Pala had of causing an upset were ended at the start of the third when Price sent him to the canvas with a straight right.

Pala beat the count but another was soon floored in much heavier fashion by another right hand and this time the referee decided to stop the contest.

Elsewhere on the card in Esbjerg, Ireland’s Andy Lee almost came unstuck against Frenchman Frank Haroche Horta but managed to eke out a majority decision win in an eight-round light-middleweight contest.
