Three golfers earn pro cards

Dinesh Prajapati, Sanjeev CK and Prakash Neupane earned the professional cards for the Surya Nepal Golf Tour after the Top Three finish in the Qualifying-School event here at the par-67 Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Thursday.

Prajapati won the Q-school tournament played at the par-67 Royal Nepal Golf Course after shooting two-under 65 in the third and final round for a total of six-over 207. The Nepal No 1 amateur golf er, who is currently undergoing a closed camp training for the 17th Asian Games, will be joined for future domestic Tour by CK and Neupane who finished the 54-hole tournament in second and third places respectively. The RNGC golf er Prajapati however will be kept out of the Tour until the Asian Games slated for September 19 kick off in Incheon, South Korea.

Prajapati shot one-under 32 in the front nine and added one-under 33 on the back nine to sign off with the only under-par card in the tournament. He dropped a shot on the second hole but sank birdies on the third and sixth on the front nine. On his way back the RNGC golf er earned two more shots on the 10th and 12th holes against a bogey on the final hole.

CK of carded a total score of 216, while Prakash Neupane, also of RNGC, shot 217. Both the golf ers shot seven-over 74 in the final round. Although five pro cards were on offer, only top three managed to earn the pro status as rest in contention all failed to meet the 21-over score limit. Former Nepal number one amateur golf er Bikash Bogati finished fourth at 228 while Dinesh Nagarkoti ended up fifth at 230. A total of 14 amateur golf ers were in fray for the pro cards.
