‘Obstructing statute drafting process impossible’

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said obstructing the promulgation of new constitution on coming January 22 was impossible.

At a programme organised by the ‘Ganeshman Singh and People’s Movement Martyr Memorial Peace Academy’ here today on the occasion of birth centenary of supreme commander late Ganeshman Singh, Prime Minister Koirala expressed the determination that the constitution writing process would be completed at any cost, adding politics guided by threat and terror will not now exist in the country.

He said, “Late Singh has given such determination and commitment to us. So we always move ahead in the journey to highlight the prestige of Nepalis without being distracted from norms and value of the democracy.”

The Prime Minister said he talked with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, on Sunday and urged him not to threaten them in course of constitution writing process.

He further said he also urged Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee President Dr Baburam Bhattarai to take the disputed issues of the constitution writing in the CA meeting and local level for discussions if consensus could not be forged at the CPDCC in this regard.

PM Koirala clarified that the country did not make any compromise during Power Development Agreement (PDA) and Power Trade Agreement (PTA) recently signed with India.
